A Time for Rest
Happy new year, everyone. You may have noticed that there has been a little longer break than usual since my last blog entry. There have been a few unexpected bumps in the road of my life, so I have backed away from putting entries in every 3-4 weeks for a little while.
This is a time for me to mention some ways of living that are important for us to remember. We do NOT have to do everything. It might actually be a bad thing for any of us to try to do everything.
Why is that? Isn’t more better?
Cycles
Let’s look at the cycles of yin and yang and Chinese medicine. Yin refers to the dark, calm, cooling energy that sustains us. We need this time represented by the darkness in order to really take care of ourselves fully.
Looking at this from a daily perspective, we can see that getting enough good sleep is the ‘yin’ energy in our lives. Looking at this from a seasonal perspective, we might think that winter, with its shorter days and longer nights, is the time of year for introspection and rest.
Pay attention to this aspect of your energy. Take care of yourselves. These are the basics of getting and staying healthy. May the new year be filled with goodness for you.
